Summary of Dr. Albert G. Gironella’s lecture regarding PAMS Academe, Leyte-Samar chapter, March 21, 2009, Tacloban City:
Dr. Gironella’s topic was about The Academe of PAMS which is composed of the committee on Training and Accreditation, committee on Continuing Medical Education, The Board of Discipline, the Board of chancellors, among others. The main function is to raise the standard of medical practice.
He also discussed about the requirements on how to become a PAMS member, or a PAMS Fellow. Included in the requirements are passing the written and oral examinations administered by each Specialty, attendance to the annual/midyear PAMS convention, and maintaining hospital accreditation and admitting priveleges.
Finally, he talked about the newly set recertification requirements of a PAMS Diplomate / Fellow, and the ongoing program of accrediting Hospitals based on the Training Program formulated by each Specialty of PAMS.
As such, PAMS will eventually admit applicants for diplomate examination from graduates of our very own training institutions.
